I found the Author Website Listing and used it to access a directory of links to authors' websites, many of whom write for children. Teachers of elementary school will also find helpful resources on the web page for English Resources.

On the English Resource page, I used the link for the Synonym finder and went to the site. Typed in "importatn" and found a variety of synonyms. This site can be useful to students when editing their writing. Need to explore the English resources further for other helpful websites.

On the Science Resource page, I discovered the link to ScienceFix.com site where a middle school teacher has embedded videos he uses in his classes. Will definitely explore using some of these videos with my students. This is a great resource for middle school science teachers, who also should create their own videos of science experiments to share with their students. On a blog, students could comment after watching the videos. Also, an excellent way to review a lab after students have completed one.

Wow, there's a lot on the social studies resource page. Just used the link to the site Critical Past, which offers a timeline to find video clips. I selected the year 1967, and looked at a few clips from the year. The clips are arranged by place (city, country). This (video clips like newsreel) is an excellent way to put primary source at the hands of students.

What a great list of resources for the English classroom! One of my favorites was the 60 Second Recap website. The website provides 60 second video clips on a plethora of popular novels. This resources would be useful for students who need a little extra help remembering characters, plot, conflict, theme, etc. I am currently working with a group of students who are reading To Kill a Mockingbird. Frequently, these students confuse the numerous characters and would benefit from viewing the To Kill a Mockingbird 60 second character video clip as a simple reminder as to who is who. In addition, the woman commentating in the videos is enthusiastic and sometimes comical. Her personality makes the videos exciting and more interesting. I'll definitely use this resource in the future.
